Applications not running with administrative privileges

Symptom

Issues with batch files & applications not being able to run properly since they don’t have administrator privileges.

 

Environment

Primary Product Module : Batch file , Application
Primary Product OS : Windows 

Cause

Files and applications are updated with newer versions (which happens frequently) that aren’t configured to run as administrator.  

Resolution

  1. Disable User Account Control UAC. Normally depending on the operating system you can do this by searching for UAC right in the start menu. Open User account control settings and turn it all the way down to never notify.

  2. Disable UAC using the registry editor. Open regedit and expand the tree as follows HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System In the right pane, modify the value of the EnableLUA DWORD value and set it to 0 . Restart your computer to apply these changes.
