Auto-start applications in windows when a user logs on

Symptom

The user desires to have an application(s) to start automatically when a user logs into the node. 


Environment

Primary Product Module : Microsoft Windows (Desktop & Server)
Primary Product Version : ALL
Primary Product OS : Windows


Resolution

To have the application start automatically for just the currently logged in user: 
  1. Start -> Run
  2. Type in ‘shell: startup’
  3. Copy that iFix icon from the desktop into your startup folder for your user.

Alternatively, you could drop that shortcut in the folder that is for ALL USERS to do so.

  1. Start -> Run
  2. Type in ‘shell: common startup’
  3. Copy that iFix icon from the desktop into your startup folder for your user
